To whom it may concern,
I have known Nicola for about 10 years. Our first meeting was her taking me around Addo National Park, where her enthusiasm for the reserve, wildlife and little things was immediately captivating and had me, someone who had been living with wildlife since a very young age, at the edge of my seat, wanting to know more.
Her passion and knowledge of wildlife influenced my decision to bring her in some years later to train our young rangers at a lodge where I was General Manager at the time – 2008/9 at Kuzuko Lodge. Here she shared her knowledge with the guides, the guests and the rest of the staff – everyone was hooked.
Nicola has a unique and wonderful way of showing and interpreting nature in a way which is specific to each individual person regardless of their background, and getting them enthusiastic about conservation, wildlife and biodiversity.
This all make her an excellent trainer, guide and an attentive, caring and empathetic teacher who is able to turn even the most stubborn person into a conservationist.
She is one of those unique and special people who you look forward to sitting around a fire with, discussing conservation, wildlife, people and places; this in itself creates an experience that should be on everyone’s bucket list.
Apart from the above she is also a very talented photographer and writer and her love of wildlife and conservation is shown in all her work.
I have worked in Conservation and Hospitality for almost 25 years now and she is one of a handful of people who inspire me and remind me, when things get tough (long hours), about why it’s all worth it.
